Portland Fire

The Fire are one of the WNBA’s newest and most exciting teams.

This is the inaugural season for the reborn Fire, who are continuing the legacy of a WNBA franchise of the same name that played in Portland in the early 2000s. The team has already been turning heads across the basketball world, and fans keep bringing the energy to the “Fire Pit” at Moda Center for every game.

The Rose Quarter Transit Center is right outside Moda Center. You can get there on any MAX line, as well as several bus lines.

Portland Thorns

The Thorns are one of the best teams in the National Women’s Soccer League.

That’s nothing new for our Thorns, who have taken home the NWSL championship in three of the 12 full seasons they’ve played since entering the league. Heading into their June break, they had lost just three matches — none of them in front of their home crowd at Providence Park.

The MAX Blue and Red lines stop at the Providence Park MAX Station, right across the street from the stadium. Several bus lines also stop in front of the stadium or a few blocks away. The best part? Your Thorns ticket is valid fare on TriMet, as well as the Portland Streetcar, for up to three hours before and after the match.

Portland Timbers

This season has had its challenges for the Timbers, but fan attendance hasn’t been one of them.

Like the Thorns, the Timbers play their home games at Providence Park. The Timbers Army has a well-deserved reputation across Major League Soccer for intensity and volume, cheering on their team win, lose or draw. Mascot Timber Joey and his chainsaw deliver an iconic celebration whenever the Timbers score at home.

Your next chance to catch the Timbers at Providence Park is July 22, but you can plan your trip anytime with TriMet’s trip planner at trimet.org. As with the Thorns, you can ride to and from the Timbers using your match ticket as your proof of fare on TriMet and the Portland Streetcar.

Portland Pickles

Anyone who thinks “baseball is boring” has never been to a Pickles game.

Portland’s own independent collegiate wood bat baseball team is famous for off-the-wall theme nights. As part of the West Coast League, the Pickles play serious, competitive baseball — but they also focus on the fan experience. With wild promotions like “Exploding Bird Night” (June 18), “Dillie Nelson Night” (July 3) and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (Aug. 1), the Pickles have something for just about everyone.

Both the Pickles and their sibling soccer clubs, the Bangers and Cherry Bombs, play home games at Lents Park. The MAX Green Line stops nearby at the SE Holgate Blvd MAX Station, while Line 17-Holgate/Broadway stops right at Lents Park.

Why TriMet?

Let’s face it: Game-day traffic is such a drag, you’ll sometimes wish you’d just stayed home. Parking fees can be an eyewatering extra cost to attend a game, and that’s if you can find nearby parking at all. And the less said about gas prices these days, the better.

You can skip all of that when you go by TriMet!

Parking at TriMet Park & Ride locations is free for transit users. Find a Park & Ride near you at trimet.org when you plan your trip!

Be sure to tap your debit or credit card, smartphone with digital wallet, or Hop Fastpass® at the green Hop reader to pay fare whenever you ride. You’ll never pay more than $5.60 a day, per rider. Youth ages 7-17 and adults age 65+ can ride for half price, along with others who qualify for Honored Citizen reduced fare. Children up to age 6 ride for free. If you’re riding to or from a Thorns or Timbers game, you don’t even have to tap — just show your digital ticket when asked for proof of fare.

Please be respectful to fellow riders and TriMet employees and follow our Rules for Riding. These rules help keep TriMet safe, clean and welcoming for all.

Report suspicious or unwanted behavior, a cleaning or maintenance issue, or another safety concern by calling or texting 503-238-7433 (RIDE), our 24-hour public safety hotline. You can also reach our safety team using one of the blue-light security phones on most MAX platforms.
