‘Baseball’s Biggest Block Party’ returns for another season at transit-friendly Lents Park

“It’s not easy being green.”
Those are the famous words of Kermit the Frog — who has clearly never taken the MAX Green Line to see the Portland Pickles.
It’s easy being green when you go by TriMet! The Green Line takes you right to the SE Holgate Blvd MAX Station, just a block west of Lents Park. A short stroll from the MAX station takes you right to the action at Walker Stadium in Lents Park. Line 17-Holgate/Broadway also stops at Lents Park.
The Pickles officially kick off their 2026 season on Friday, May 29, as they host the Victoria HarbourCats. Plan your trip now at trimet.org!
Fun in the sun
Beloved for their wacky theme nights and freewheeling, fun atmosphere, the Pickles describe themselves as “Baseball’s Biggest Block Party.”
Unaffiliated with Major League Baseball, the Pickles play in the West Coast League: a collegiate, wood bat summer baseball league, featuring some of college baseball’s top talent.
Despite the Pickles’ irreverent image and off-the-wall promos, they play serious baseball. The Pickles held the best record in the league last year, although they lost a tight championship game to the Bellingham Bells. This year, under new head coach Jim Hoppel and general manager Courtney Schmidt, they’re looking to win it all.
Get there with TriMet
TriMet and the Pickles go together like a hot dog and relish.
Lents Park is a transit-friendly destination, with Line 17-Holgate/Broadway serving the park directly and the MAX Green Line stopping just a block away at the SE Holgate Blvd MAX Station.
Mascot Dillon T. Pickle shows you how it’s done:
If you’re traveling from elsewhere by MAX, transfer to a Green Line train at the Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center. You can also leave your car at a TriMet Park & Ride — parking is free for transit users! — and hop on a bus or MAX from there. It’s the most convenient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to go!
