Save every time when you go by TriMet to Portland Thorns

Thorns kick off home schedule at Providence Park on March 20 vs. Seattle

MAX riders cross Southwest 18th Avenue to Providence Park for a Portland Thorns game.

If you’re a sports fan, you’ll want to be at Providence Park when the Portland Thorns host their Cascadia rivals, Seattle Reign FC, on Friday, March 20.

And when you go by TriMet, you can arrive right in front of the stadium — without having to pay anything more than the price of your ticket to the match.

TriMet and the Thorns are teaming up to give fans a ride on game days! You can use your digital match ticket as your proof of fare on TriMet, for up to three hours before kickoff — which is at 7 p.m., for Friday’s match — and three hours after the final whistle.

TriMet provides direct service to the stadium. The Providence Park MAX Station is just outside, and multiple bus lines stop within a few blocks. With parking fees rising to $7 an hour when the Portland Thorns and Timbers play, and parking spots often scarce on game day, you can’t beat going by TriMet for an affordable, reliable and convenient way to get to and from every match. Win, lose or draw, you’ll always save.

Convenient service

The Providence Park MAX Station is right across Southwest 18th Avenue from the stadium. Get there on the MAX Blue and Red lines. Trains arrive in each direction every 7-8 minutes for most of the day.

Five bus lines also provide everyday service to Providence Park:

You can also take a different line and transfer to the MAX Blue or Red Line at Pioneer Courthouse Square or the Rose Quarter Transit Center.

Our trip planner at trimet.org does the work for you, giving  you options so you can choose the trip that’s best for you.

Your Ticket2Ride

TriMet is proud to continue our Ticket2Ride partnership with the Thorns and Timbers in 2026!

Because of this partnership, your ticket to the game is your ticket to ride! Game tickets are proof of fare on TriMet and the Portland Streetcar for three hours before and after each match at Providence Park. We’re helping fans save money and reducing traffic congestion around the stadium on game days. That’s a big deal!

As long as you have a match ticket, you can take advantage of this free transportation — even if you don’t live close to a TriMet bus or MAX line. We have dozens of TriMet Park & Ride facilities throughout the tri-county area. Parking is free for transit riders (not just on game day). Leave your car with us and take the bus or MAX to Providence Park instead!

Please note that Ticket2Ride only includes Portland Timbers and Thorns games and concerts at Providence Park and other select events, such as ZooLights. Any other time you ride TriMet or the Portland Streetcar, remember to tap your bank card, smartphone with digital wallet, or Hop Fastpass® card at a green Hop reader to pay your fare.

Ride with confidence

Let a professional do the driving! Plan your trip at trimet.org and get on board.

On game day, show your digital ticket to your bus operator upon boarding, or to a TriMet Customer Safety Supervisor if you’re asked for proof of fare. No tap required!

Please be sure to follow our Rules for Riding on TriMet, so you and everyone around you can enjoy a safe and comfortable ride.

You can track your vehicle at trimet.org. All TriMet MAX stations, and many of our most-used bus stops, now display real-time arrival information and other important messages on screen as well.
