Portland Arts Week brings exhibitions, performances, competitions and a two-day symposium to venues throughout Portland and Gresham. This year’s theme is “Art & Sports.”

Additionally, Portland’s Office of Arts & Culture is seeking volunteers to help paint a mural, designed by artist Yinka Ilori, that anchors the new Cultural District Plaza in the South Park Blocks. A family-friendly community painting party is set for Saturday, July 11. Walk-up volunteers are welcome.

The best way to take in what Arts Week has to offer is to go by TriMet! Plan your trip today at trimet.org. You can also use our trip planner to map out your travel on the Portland Streetcar and other transit systems in our region.

Arts and culture

Portland is a creative hub! The Cultural District Plaza at Southwest Madison Street and Park Avenue celebrates our region’s artistry and provides a beautiful “welcome mat” for the Portland Art Museum.

The Portland Art Museum will host a Symposium on Art, Sports, Culture and Business from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, to officially kick off Portland Arts Week. The symposium continues at Tomorrow Theater on Friday afternoon, July 10. Both days of this symposium are free and open to the public.

Other Arts Week events include a gallery walk in the Pearl District, an evening of competitive art at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Athletics, an outdoor performance program at Darcelle XV Plaza and a futsal tournament right by TriMet’s FX2-Division bus line in Gresham. TriMet bus service and the Portland Streetcar provide convenient transit access to many of these events!

Check out the full program on the Portland Arts Week website.
