TriMet is your ride to root for the Portland Timbers

For up to 3 hours before, after home games, use your game ticket as proof of fare on TriMet

You won’t want to miss the first game of the 2026 season, as the Portland Timbers host the Columbus Crew on Saturday, Feb. 21.

TriMet will get you there, hassle-free! The Timbers/Crew match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Providence Park — just feet from the Providence Park MAX Station and nearby bus stops.

If you have a ticket to see the game, you also have a free ride to and from the game! For the third straight year, TriMet and the Timbers are teaming up, so your digital game ticket is your ticket to ride.

For up to three hours before and after the game, ride for free with your game ticket on any TriMet bus, MAX or LIFT paratransit vehicle, as well as Portland Streetcar. If asked for proof of fare, simply show your digital ticket.

Saving your family money

In teaming up with the Timbers, TriMet is breaking down barriers, making game day more affordable for more people.

Whether it’s a fun family outing, date night or a night out with friends, costs can add up fast. Thanks to our Ticket2Ride partnership with the Timbers, though, you won’t spend a penny on parking. That’s a big deal — especially on game day, when event parking fees will cost you at least $7 an hour near Providence Park!

Use our trip planner on trimet.org to find a TriMet Park & Ride that’s convenient for you. Free parking is available for transit riders at Park & Ride locations throughout the tri-county area. Keep in mind that parking at the Sunset Transit Center sometimes fills up on game day, so come early or consider another nearby Park & Ride.

Please note that Ticket2Ride only includes Portland Timbers and Thorns games and concerts at Providence Park and other select events, such as ZooLights. Portland Trail Blazers tickets, and tickets for all other Moda Center and Memorial Coliseum events, do not count as TriMet fare. (You may see AI search results that say they do, but that information is incorrect.)

How to ride

Follow three easy steps for a great experience on TriMet.

Step 1: Plan your trip

Visit trimet.org to find the best way to get to Providence Park, or any other destination! Multiple trip options let you customize your travel to fit your needs.

Access our trip planner at home or on the go. You can even use our website to track your ride and see when your bus or train will arrive.

Step 2: Respect the ride

Our Rules for Riding keep TriMet safe, clean and welcoming for all. If you’re not familiar with them, take a couple minutes to read the rules before your trip.

Report unwanted or suspicious behavior, vandalism or littering at any time by texting or calling 503-238-7433 (RIDE). Our security hotline is staffed 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Step 3: Follow the signs

Real-time displays, on-board announcements and posted signs provide multiple ways for riders to navigate TriMet. All buses and trains will show the next stop on a readerboard and announce it on the speakers.

Listen or look out for your stop when it’s time to get off the bus or train. Don’t forget to thank your operator — it’s the Oregon way!
