Are you ready for some football? Ride TriMet to Providence Park — free with game ticket

Portland State Vikings host Montana at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, in Providence Park matchup

TriMet MAX train serves the Providence Park MAX Station in Portland, with the stadium in the background

America’s favorite sport is coming to Providence Park, as Portland State University hosts Montana for its homecoming football game Saturday, Nov. 15.

You can see the Vikings play at Providence Park — the Portland Thorns and Timbers’ iconic home stadium — by taking TriMet. If you have a digital ticket to the game, present it as your proof of fare on TriMet and the Portland Streetcar for up to three hours before and after game time!

This special deal continues our successful partnership with Providence Park. Since the 2024 season, this partnership has enabled fans to ride TriMet to and from Thorns and Timbers home games for free, using their ticket as fare. We expanded the partnership this year to include other special events at Providence Park, such as June’s Post Malone with Jelly Roll concert and this Saturday’s PSU homecoming game.

PSU students are eligible to receive a free ticket to the homecoming game. This ticket is valid on game day to ride TriMet and the Portland Streetcar as well!

The game kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday. Plan your trip now at trimet.org!

Easy to ride

Providence Park is located just feet from the Providence Park MAX Station. MAX Blue and Red line trains serve this station, with a train arriving in each direction about every 7½ minutes. Additionally, the Goose Hollow MAX Station is just three blocks away.

The stadium is also served by several bus lines, including:

Line 6, Line 15 and Line 20 are part of TriMet’s Frequent Service network, with buses arriving every 15 minutes or better for most of the day.

You can also transfer to a MAX Blue or Red line train at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Providence Park is just two stops away from Pioneer Square on a westbound  train.

Park and go

If you’ve ever tried to drive to a game at Providence Park, you know that legal street parking can be hard to find — and expensive, at $6 an hour during large events (increasing to $7 in 2026).

Skip the hassle and the expense, and park at a TriMet Park & Ride instead. We have hundreds of parking spots that are free to riders, at Park & Ride locations all over the Portland metro area.

TriMet Park & Ride locations include:

By leaving your car at a free TriMet Park & Ride, you can save more than $20 on parking fees alone. And when you use your game ticket as proof of fare, you won’t spend a cent on your ride, either.

Enjoy the ride

Riding TriMet to and from a game is a great way to show your team spirit and meet fellow fans! It always makes a statement when a bus or train arrives at the stadium, full of fans wearing team colors and gear.

Whenever you ride, please be respectful and courteous toward fellow riders and TriMet employees. Be sure to check out our Rules for Riding before you go.

Report any unwanted or suspicious behavior, vandalism, or litter to our 24-hour public safety line — call or text 503-238-7433 (RIDE).

If you’re asked to show proof of fare, simply display your digital ticket on your phone or tablet. Your ticket is valid fare on TriMet for up to three hours before kickoff and three hours after the game ends. At any other time, you can pay your fare instantly by tapping your Hop Fastpass® farecard, contactless credit or debit card, or smartphone with digital wallet at a green Hop reader.
