TriMet Board of Directors to hold special meeting to announce finalist in GM search

by

The TriMet Board of Directors will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, June 16, at 3 p.m. to announce the finalist in its search for the regional transit agency’s next general manager. TriMet launched an extensive outreach and engagement process in February 2021, to help inform the Board as it searched for—and ultimately selects—TriMet’s next leader. The Board has called hiring the next general manager its most important duty. It launched the search in March 2021, after previous General Manager Doug Kelsey announced his retirement, and after the Board approved a job description for the role.

A Board General Manager Search Committee, comprised of Board Vice President Lori Bauman, future Board President Linda Simmons and Director Ozzie Gonzalez, led the search and recruitment efforts. Based on initial interviews, three candidates—two women and one man (one who identifies as Black/White, one who identifies as Black and one who identifies as White)—were interviewed by the full Board as well as a 12-member Community Panel. The Board expects to choose a finalist from the three and introduce them at the special meeting June 16.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, the meeting will be held virtually. A link will be posted on trimet.org/meetings/board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. As this is not a regularly scheduled Board meeting, there will not be a public forum.
