Expanded Line 24-Fremont/NW 18th Ave, new Line 31-Webster Rd, improved Line 79-Clackamas/Oregon City and more starting Sunday, March 3
Even before spring officially arrives, TriMet is sprucing up our bus service. We’re speeding up trips and giving our riders more options, at more times, on more days of the week. Starting Sunday, March 3, we’re extending our Line 24-Fremont across the Fremont Bridge for a faster, one-seat ride between Northeast and Northwest Portland. We’re adding the new Line 31-Webster Rd to bring more options to Clackamas, Gladstone and Oregon City. We’re also streamlining Line 79-Clackamas/Oregon City for quicker trips between two busy transit centers. These service improvements are part of our 10-year plan to improve and expand service, an effort sped up by the adoption of the Keep Oregon Moving law.
Line 24-Fremont/NW 18th Ave
Our spring service improvements include a route extension for Line 24-Fremont across the Fremont Bridge to connect Portland’s east and west sides. The new route will offer service between Gateway Transit Center in Northeast Portland and Providence Park in Southwest Portland, where riders can easily access MAX Blue and Red lines.
Buses on the new Line 24-Fremont/NW 18th Ave will run more often, with added trips throughout the day, service stretching until about 9:30 p.m. into the night and new service on Saturdays and Sundays.
Line 31-Webster Rd
Line 31-Webster Rd is a brand new bus line for Clackamas County. It will run between the Clackamas Town Center and Oregon City Transit Centers, with stops along 82nd Avenue, Thiessen Road, Webster Road, Oatfield Road, Arlington Road and McLoughlin Boulevard. Line 31 will follow the same route previously served by Line 79-Clackamas/Oregon City between Webster Road/Strawberry Lane and Oregon City Transit Center. Line 31 will run seven days a week, with buses arriving about every 30 minutes.
Line 79-Clackamas/Oregon City
We’re speeding up trips on our Line 79-Clackamas/Oregon City with a new, streamlined route.
Like Line 31, the new Line 79 will serve areas between the Clackamas Town Center and Oregon City Transit Centers. Buses will stop along 82nd Avenue, 82nd Drive, I-205 and Washington Street. Line 79 will continue to operate seven days a week, with buses arriving about every 30 minutes.
Lines 31 & 79: Better together
Lines 31 and 79 complement one another, giving riders in Clackamas County new options. Combined, buses will arrive every 15 minutes for trips between Clackamas Town Center and Oregon City Transit Center.
More spring improvements
Our spring service improvements include schedule tweaks on a number of other bus lines to help keep buses on time, shorten wait times and make transfers easier. Go to trimet.org/planner and enter a date on or after March 3 to see if arrival times for your bus line will change. Find a complete list of routes with service adjustments at trimet.org/new.
Expanding service throughout the region
TriMet is continuing to expand service throughout the region under HB 2017, the Keep Oregon Moving law, as well as with the employer payroll tax, approved by TriMet’s Board of Directors in 2015. These improvements are part of TriMet’s 10-year plan to provide more and better bus service across our tri-county service district. The increases we’re rolling out this spring come on the heels of the largest-ever single bus service expansion in our history, and we’re already making plans for more.
