Time to hop on TriMet to check out the new-look Trail Blazers

by

Damian Lillard and the new-look Portland Trail Blazers tip off the 2015-16 regular season on Wednesday night, Oct. 28, and TriMet gets you to the game and back. MAX trains as well as buses on at least six lines drop you at or near the Moda Center.

New lineup, new service

To check out the new starting lineup for the Blazers, hop on TriMet’s new MAX Orange Line. The Orange Line runs from SE Park Ave in North Clackamas County, with stops in downtown Milwaukie and Southeast Portland before crossing into downtown Portland. Most trains then become Yellow Line trains, which cross the Steel Bridge and stop at the Interstate/Rose Quarter Station across from the Moda Center.

Trying to beat the clock

While Lillard can drain a 3-pointer in less than a second, don’t spoil game night watching the clock. A TriMet Day Pass is just twice the cost of a 2 ½-hour ticket and gives you time to get refreshments before the game and enjoy all the action from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

Know your position

Westbound MAX trains serve the northern-most platform, rather than the middle platform, on game nights due to the big crowds that always turn out to cheer on the home team. The switch starts about an hour-and-a-half before tipoff and continues until people disperse after the game.

Don’t foul out on your fare

No one likes to see an opposing player flop on the court, so don’t fake not paying your fare. A valid fare is required on all TriMet vehicles including MAX. If you’re caught without a fare, this foul could cost you a $175 citation or exclusion from the system.

Mobile app = slam dunk

The TriMet Tickets mobile app lets you buy your fare before you even leave home. With the free app, buy tickets anywhere at anytime, and use them on your smartphone whenever you need them. You can even buy and use tickets for multiple riders on one phone. No need to keep track of paper tickets. Learn more at trimet.org/mobiletickets.

Check travel times before game time
