Zipcars now available to Westside bus and WES riders at the Tigard Transit Center
TriMet riders using the Tigard Transit Center (TC) now have a new option for pay-as-you-go wheels for their last mile transit trips. Zipcar, a car sharing network, and TriMet have once again expanded their partnership to include a new Zipcar vehicle at Tigard TC.
Riders who are Zipcar members can now hop off the bus, MAX or WES Commuter Rail and step right into a Zipcar at five TriMet locations throughout the region. The latest addition, Tigard TC, connects TriMet’s seven bus lines and WES line serving Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville, as well as Yamhill County bus service.
The Tigard TC will house one Zipcar in the Park & Ride lot, bringing the total Zipcars along our system to 10. TriMet and Zipcar are evaluating demand over the next 90 days and the number of Zipcars at this facility may increase in the coming months, based on use. Transit connections at Tigard TC include:
- WES Commuter Rail
- 12-Barbur/Sandy Blvd
- 45-Garden Home
- 64-Marquam Hill/Tigard Transit Center
- 78-Beaverton/Lake Oswego
- 94-Pacific Hwy/Sherwood
- Yamhill County Transit Area
In January of 2014, TriMet and Zipcar launched the joint program that added Zipcars to the Beaverton Transit Center, Gateway Transit Center and Quatama MAX station along the Blue, Green, and Red lines. In June they added an additional location at the southern end of the Green Line at the Clackamas Town Center Transit Center.
This latest “wheels when you want them” expansion adds ease and convenience for Zipcar members who live and work car-free in the region. For more information please visit www.zipcar.com/transitcenters or www.zipcar.com.
