SE 17th to close southbound between Powell Blvd and Rhine St for light rail construction

Sidewalk and roadway work begin March 19 through early June

Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project construction in SE Portland will temporarily close SE 17th Avenue between Powell Blvd and Rhine Street to southbound traffic from Wed., March 19 through May.  This closure will extend two blocks south to Rhone Street in June.

Local access will be maintained for businesses. Northbound 17th Avenue and the sidewalks on the east side of 17th Avenue in this area will remain open, including connections to Powell Blvd. To facilitate local traffic circulation, new traffic signals at 17th Avenue and Holgate Blvd will allow turns in all directions. Two bus lines, 17-Holgate/Broadway and 70-12th/NE 33rd Ave heading south will be detoured to Milwaukie Avenue and Center Street.
