Transit options to avoid I-84 weekend construction delays

Hop on the MAX to avoid the congestion during the final phase of a major Interstate 84 paving project. Roughly 5.5 miles of the Banfield between Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 will have new paving, signs and striping following the final closure this weekend.

All I-84 westbound lanes and ramps between I-205 and I-5 will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday, August 3 through 5 a.m. Monday, August 5. Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews will be installing signs, restriping lanes and completing final traffic control improvements on this project.

Take TriMet to minimize traffic delays
MAX Blue, Red and Green Lines travel through this congested area and can help you bypass this final full weekend closure.

Instead of driving all the way, park and ride with us. TriMet provides multiple free 24-hour Park and Ride locations. Consider using:

Along the Blue Line:
– 181st Ave, E 122nd/Menlo Park or Gateway park and rides

Along the Green Line:
– Clackamas Town Center, SE Fuller, SE Holgate, SE Powell or SE Main park and rides

Along the Red Line:
– Sunset and Parkrose/Sumner park and rides

Plan ahead
TriMet has many useful tools to help you plan your outing. Use TriMet’s Trip Planner to help map out your route. Purchase tickets online at trimet.org or pick up tickets when you’re at the grocery store. More than 100 neighborhood retail outlets including most grocery stores and the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square sell TriMet fares.

ODOT has encouraged motorists to map out an alternate route in advance, expect heavier traffic than usual on the alternate routes and take public transit when possible.

Travelers can get the latest information about the project at www.i84paving.org or www.tripcheck.com; or on the project hotline in English and Spanish at 503‐731‐4663.
