Portland Swap Meet to close Expo Center Park & Ride

TriMet spaces closed Thursday and Friday, Apr. 4-5

TriMet’s Park & Ride at the Portland Expo Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, Apr. 4 and 5, due to the annual Portland Swap Meet. What’s billed by organizers as the largest auto parts swap meet on the west coast runs Friday through Sunday, but setup begins the day before. That means the 300 parking spaces TriMet leases from the Expo Center on weekdays will not be available beginning Thursday. The next closest parking option, Delta Park/Vanport Park & Ride, has 304 spaces available on weekdays.

Expo Center staff put out signs at the parking lot since last Friday alerting users to the closure. Fliers were left on automobile windshields yesterday and today, and will also be distributed tomorrow to give drivers advance notice about the closure.

The MAX Yellow Line takes riders right to the Expo Center. It runs seven days a week. All other MAX lines connect with the Yellow Line at the Rose Quarter as do several bus lines.
