One-hour Steel Bridge closure to affect TriMet buses and MAX lines Sunday, Feb. 24

Posted in Media Releases

Union Pacific work to close bridge between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

TriMet service across the Steel Bridge will be disrupted for about an hour Sunday morning, Feb. 24, due to the closure of the bridge for Union Pacific maintenance. The closure between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. will affect about 14 train trips scheduled to cross the Steel Bridge during that time. Shuttle buses will carry MAX riders across the Willamette River.

Five bus lines that use the Steel Bridge will detour to other nearby bridges. Riders on those bus lines as well as MAX trains should plan an extra five to ten minutes into their trips.

MAX Blue/Red lines

Shuttle buses will transport riders from the Rose Quarter Transit Center to the Old Town/Chinatown Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible. Express buses will take riders directly from the Old Town/Chinatown Station to the Airport to lessen the inconvenience to riders.

MAX Green/Yellow lines

Shuttle buses will take riders from the Interstate/Rose Quarter Station to Union Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible.

Bus lines 4, 8, 35, 44 and 77

Buses on lines 4, 8, 35, 44 and 77 will detour to nearby bridges. This will affect about 12 trips.

Morrison Bridge closure

The Morrison Bridge will also be closed on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 7 a.m. through 4 p.m. for maintenance. TriMet Line 15 will detour to the Burnside Bridge during this time.
