TriMet Line 9 bus stop to relocate for two years beginning tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 18

Emergency water main repairs plus planned construction project leads to short notice on multi-year stop relocation

Beginning Friday, Jan. 18, the Line 9 westbound bus stop at SE Powell & Powell Garage Dr. (stop ID 4543) will be relocated due to Portland Water Bureau emergency repairs and planned construction. Work on a Kelly Butte reservoir project that would have impacted the stop location was set to begin near the end of the month, but a water main break due to the recent cold weather means emergency repairs are necessary now.

The new stop will be two blocks east (about 425 feet), near SE Powell and 99th. It will stay in that location for about two years. Line 9 riders on the 11 westbound trips that originate from TriMet’s Powell Garage on weekdays will need to board at the current stop on SE Powell near 92nd Avenue (stop ID 4709), which is west of I-205. Those affected trips begin at 4:57 a.m., 6:39 a.m., 7:02 a.m., 7:14 a.m., 7:29 a.m., 7:57 a.m., 8:28 a.m., 2:56 p.m., 3:59 p.m., 4:27 p.m. and 5:34 p.m.
