Keep spreading the word: Just days left to exchange old-style tickets

Non-foil tickets and 1-Zone, 2-Zone tickets no longer valid Jan. 1

Before singing Auld Lang Syne to 2012, TriMet has a new tune to help spread the word: People need to get down to the TriMet Ticket Office and exchange those older style tickets.

“Don’t let old tickets be forgot” (to the tune of Auld Lang Syne)
Should old style tickets be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Exchange them now, ‘cuz new year’s day
they won’t be worth a dime

Spread the word far and near,
Friends and strangers too.
Don’t get stuck with zone or foil-less
tickets you can’t use
Click to hear a rendition of the song

Tickets that need to be exchanged

Non-foil tickets
Non-foil tickets
Tickets without a shiny foil strip are no longer accepted. The foil security strip helps deter fraud. More than 235,000 of these tickets have been exchanged so far this year.

Zone-Tickets1-Zone and 2-Zone tickets
In September, TriMet ended the zone system and moved to a simpler “go-anywhere” fare system. Since the change, 1-Zone and 2-Zone tickets are no longer valid without an upgrade. The All-Zone passes with the foil strip do not need to be exchanged. Those remain valid.

Ticket exchanges must be made at the TriMet Ticket Office in downtown Portland before the end of business, 5:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 31.
