Non-foil tickets can now be exchanged through end of 2012
Riders have just a few days left to use older style tickets that do not have a foil security strip. As announced earlier this month, tickets without the foil strip must be used up by the end of Monday, April 30. As of May 1, TriMet will no longer accept a non-foil ticket as a valid fare.
Exchange deadline extended
TriMet is now extending the deadline for exchanging the non-foil tickets through the end of the year. To swap the old tickets for new ones with the foil security strip, go to the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. In the past month, approximately 53,000 tickets have been exchanged.
TriMet began phasing out the older tickets when it switched to newer, more secure ticket stock in September 2009. The new tickets have a foil strip that reduces the opportunity for fraud and simplifies ticket inspection.
